Innovation Highlights

The plastics producer Evonik has carried out corresponding investigations for PEEK. The findings led, among other things, to the first use of PEEK gears in Mercedes-Benz transmissions. Compared to gears made of engineering plastics, variants made of high-performance plastics, such as polyetheretherketone (PEEK), are generally more mechanically, thermally, and chemically stable and can therefore extend the load limits.
