Innovation Highlights Amsted Automotive has developed new powershift 2-speed and multi-speed shift system technology with integrated one-way-clutch (OWC) operation. This technology, when applied to EV drivetrains, can provide novel and flexible system solutions utilizing one-way-clutch functionality to achieve smooth shift transitions and simplified shift controls as compared to conventional technology. The shift system is modular and can be integrated with co-axial and parallel-axis drivetrains, and can be set up for both grounded and fully rotating architectures. Passive OWC ensures smooth transition. Active controled clutch accomplish shifting within 20 ms. The novel solutions also include new methods of integrating the OWC shift elements into gears for reduced package space and weight.
